"Doing and Saying: The Magic of Action," written by Ximena Patiño, is an ode to optimism. Through two real-world ventures, it demonstrates how our thoughts and actions create new realities, allowing us to build our dreams and gradually develop them into successful and impactful businesses.
Through real-life experiences, the book shows that dreams can materialize through persistence, continuous learning, and the ability to create with purpose. The work explores the lessons learned, challenges, and decisions behind two impactful initiatives in Latin America: Servinformación, a leading company in smart location services and a Google distributor currently expanding regionally; and Saving The Amazon, an organization that has developed a scalable model in partnership with Amazonian, coastal, and local indigenous communities to promote environmental restoration, tree and mangrove planting, productive projects, and ARR carbon credits, contributing to biodiversity conservation and the eradication of multidimensional poverty.
More than just a book on entrepreneurship, this work offers a practical vision of leadership, social innovation, and collective construction, inspiring entrepreneurs, organizations, and leaders to generate real change through action.
Íparari Uragena Paramena: The Cosmovision of the Cubeo Indigenous People is a work written by Oscar López, a traditional healer and Indigenous leader of the AATICAM Association, belonging to the Cubeo community of the Vaupés Amazon region.
The book originated as an effort to preserve, share, and transmit the memory, oral tradition, and ancestral cosmovision of the Cubeo people, especially the Gegenawa ethnic group. Through stories, knowledge, and fundamental events in Indigenous history, the work captures the profound relationship that these communities maintain with the land, nature, and life, based on balance, respect, and spirituality.
The publication becomes a bridge between generations and a tool to make visible, protect, and strengthen ancestral Amazonian knowledge. Beyond the historical narrative, it represents an exercise in cultural safeguarding and a commitment to recognizing the value of Indigenous voices in the construction of identity, memory, and the conservation of the territory.
Ximena Patiño has dedicated her leadership to leading processes of social transformation, working hand-in-hand with indigenous, peasant and local communities, organizations and teams to promote projects that generate real impact. Her leadership integrates strategy, innovation, social enterprise and a deep human vision, aimed at strengthening local capabilities, promoting participation and building collective solutions to complex social and environmental challenges.
As president of Saving The Amazon, she has promoted initiatives that articulate technology, leadership and impact models to strengthen communities and mobilize efforts for fairer and more conscious development. Ximena believes in leadership with purpose, in innovation applied to everyday life and in the power of stories to inspire action.
Her purpose is clear: to form and accompany leaders capable of transforming their surroundings, building resilient communities and promoting a culture of impact that puts people, purpose and collaboration at the center of social transformation.
Oscar López is a traditional knowledge doctor and indigenous leader of the Asociación AATICAM, belonging to the Cubeo community of the Amazon del Vaupés. His work has focused on preserving, strengthening and transmitting the ancestral knowledge, oral traditions and the cosmovision of his people, promoting the protection of cultural identity and Amazonian indigenous roots.
Throughout his career he has worked on community processes aimed at conserving territory, intergenerational transmission of knowledge and the defense of traditional practices as fundamental pillars for the balance between communities and nature. In his role as a traditional knowledge holder, he has supported spaces for teaching and dialogue around ancestral medicine, spirituality and the harmonious relationship with the natural environment.
His leadership represents an important voice in the visibility of Amazonian indigenous cultures and in the recognition of ancestral knowledge as a key instrument for the conservation of biodiversity, cultural memory and the construction of the future for new generations.
The first edition of the book was launched in the framework of COP16 in Cali, Colombia from October 11 to 31, 2024, in a series of conferences organized with the support of the Universidad Santiago de Cali, Fundación Norte-Sur, Coomeva and Uniandinos, where Ximena Patiño and Oscar López participated, sharing their perspective as authors with hundreds of entrepreneurs, students, businesspeople and visitors at the summit headquarters. After its first launch, the book completes its second edition and is scheduled for its second official launch in Bogotá, Colombia, at the Innovation Center of the Chamber of Commerce in Corferias on May 28, 2025, thanks to the support of Servinformación and Shambala, where both Ximena and Oscar will share their stories and experiences in the construction of this legacy and their call to a society that strives day by day to grow its ideas.
