Adopting a tree means that for a single payment of $ 11.99, a native tree will be planted in the Amazon by local indigenous communities, and will be marked with the name that the adopter chooses, being his own or that of a third party. The term “adopt” is attributed to this since although the adopter gave a monetary value, the tree is under the care of the indigenous community for a period of three years. During this time, and through photographic updates, the creditors of a tree will be able to follow the growth of the plant through the photographs uploaded to the website. The photographic shots of the plantings are made in the months of December / January and June / July.

The adoption of a native tree planted by indigenous communities is done through our website www.savingtheamazon.org Go to the Adopt a tree section of this page and you will find the different options: Tree for me to plant your name and compensate Your Carbon Footprint, Tree to give as a gift to someone else, Tree for condolences to give in honor of a deceased person, among many other options. Follow the steps, fill out the form and proceed to payment. There are various means of payment for all tastes and all people around the world.

Apart from planting the tree, the $ 11.99 paid includes: 1. That each tree be marked with a biodegradable template with the name indicated by the adopter. 2. An email with the following documents: A postal type letter welcoming the project, which contains the photograph of the planted tree and information from the community; and a certification diploma with planting information and coordinates. 3. The proper georeferencing of the tree in a virtual map. This georeferencing is done through Google Maps with the planting coordinates taken with GPS in the field. 4. Every 6 months for three years a follow-up photo will be taken to follow the growth of the tree, which can be viewed on our page in the My Tree section. 5. Maintenance and care of the tree by the responsible community. In case the tree is affected by pests or some natural inconvenience and dies, it will be replaced.

We currently handle different forms of adoption. A tree for me, A tree to give away, green leaves to give condolences, Planting combos, in which you can choose if you want to adopt 2, 4 or 6 trees with a special discount, you can also Plant for special reasons, you can choose between motives such as birthdays, marriage and newborn. Also, you can Become a Partner, our membership plant in which you can make monthly adoptions and become an active member of the foundation, here you can choose a membership between 1,5 and 10 trees

The way to give evidence of the plantings is by sending an email with the photograph of the tree planted and marked with the name indicated by the adopter. Likewise, each tree is assigned a unique code, a number which appears on the biodegradable label. This code can be entered in the "Your tree" section of the website and there will be photos, planting information and geolocation.

No. One of our main pillars is respect for indigenous ancestral knowledge and the community's own needs, so it is they who decide which species to plant, where to plant them, when to plant them and how to do it. Each tree responds to a community need, be they fruit, medicinal or timber trees (understand the latter as a conscious use of the tree for construction of houses, crafts, canoes and oars).

There is a physical owner and a token owner. The indigenous communities that live in the planting area are the physical owners of the trees, since they are the ones who plant and care for them. After three years of virtual monitoring, the tree becomes clearly theirs. However, the adopter of the tree has the right to follow-up for the period of 36 months, and having the planting coordinates can go to visit the adopted tree. Beyond owners, we believe in an adopter / responsible system, because in the end, the trees become part of the forest and are a whole with it. Even so, indigenous communities will be able to benefit in the long term from these planted trees, since they have a purpose such as food security, medicinal and sustainable environment.

When making the payment and registering the data of your gift tree, you will be asked for information such as the name and email of the person to whom you are going to give the tree. With these data, Saving The Amazon notifies the indicated email that you have given them the planting of a tree, the reason and even a personalized dedication if you specify it in the form. Saving The Amazon sends a letter with the photograph of the georeferenced marked tree, and an adoption certificate with the name of the person, the planting coordinates and the species of tree planted. Every six months until the age of 3, Saving The Amazon will update the tree photographs on the website as proof of the tree's survival. As you are the one who made the purchase, you will also receive notifications and a copy of the email sent.

The name is marked on a biodegradable template, which is located in front of the planted tree. This template has an approximate durability of 3 to 4 years and is duly stamped with the SAVING THE AMAZON logo. The name of the beneficiary of the tree is handwritten by the responsible field supervisor.

The person you assign as beneficiary will receive a letter with the photograph of the tree planted in the name of the deceased, and the certificate that accredits the deceased person as part of the Amazon, since a tree planted bears his name. The language of the letter and the certificate are directed to the memory of the person who passed away.

Yes. When you adopt, we ask you to fill out a form with information about the gift. This form has a space for a 250 character custom message.

Our operation focuses exclusively on sowing in the Tropical Humid Forest territories and those of high multidimensional poverty, but we do symbolic plantings in other parts of the country in person, this is part of particular campaigns that arise due to some eventuality, but there are no fixed dates for this activities. Also, if you go to an Amazon Escape, our ethno-tourism program, you can have the experience of planting physically with the accompaniment of indigenous communities.

Yes. We have an ethno-tourism program launched in 2019 called the Amazon Escape, which has the purpose of promoting tourism in the Amazon region of Vaupés and making our project known from within. This program lasts for 6 days where people will be able to meet and share with indigenous communities, help in the planting, in particular projects that the community has, and they will be able to access the planting areas. With the help of our operators in the field, they will be able to track the coordinates and search for the planted tree.

Currently the plantings are carried out in two countries, Colombia and Brazil. In Colombia we sow in three departments of the Amazon region: Vaupés, Caquetá and Putumayo. In each department we plant in different indigenous reservations helping different communities. In Brazil, plantings are carried out in the communities of Kuntanawa and Piracuara. Our purpose is to reach more reserves and planting areas throughout the Amazon, not only in Colombia and Brazil, but in the other countries that comprise it. On the other hand, we have planting areas in the Colombian Pacific in the department of Chocó, where we carry out the Bosques de Paz program.

The Amazon is the most important ecosystem on the planet for various reasons, such as its great capacity to absorb and retain CO2, thus cooling the planet, the biodiversity of fauna and flora, the amount of fresh water that flows through its rivers and is home to the most vulnerable ancestral indigenous communities on the planet. All of this is currently threatened by deforestation, fires and other extractive activities that destroy this important ecosystem every day. Caring for and preserving it is vital to the permanence of the human race on Earth. For this reason, we decided to work right where there is most need, both at the ecosystem and humanitarian levels.

Indigenous communities benefit from signing up as a seed family. Each registered family receives a payment in money or in kind for each tree planted, and since there are massive plantings of more than thousands of trees, the payments are significant. The more you plant the more work there is for the communities. Likewise, payments are made for photographs taken throughout the 3 years that the tree is monitored. To ensure that the project is successful and that the trees grow it is necessary to maintain the trees, take care of the land and clean them of pests. These jobs are also paid. Likewise, the employees that we have in the plant, such as the field supervisor and planting director, are part of the indigenous communities and are an example and incentive of the possibility of job escalation. Our goal is to have more and more indigenous families and communities involved in our project.

Email notifications have a minimum period of 5, maximum 10 business days, but the approximate time is one week. These times are high due to the fact that the planting of the seedling, the assignment of the code and the marking of the tree, photographic taking, sending, and generating the letter and certificate must be done. In the Amazon there are climatic and satellite internet connection problems that sometimes delay the shipping processes, for this reason we move between generous times to be able to fulfill our value offer in the indicated time.

Most likely we have already sent it but there was a problem with the email. Sometimes our emails go into the "Promotions", "Spam" or "Spam" sections so the first thing to do would be to check if you have any email from @ savingtheamazon.org. We have a newsletter so we send informative and promotional emails, you must review them all well. If you finally cannot find your tree, you can contact us through the email contacto@savingtheamazon.org or through a Direct Message on our social networks.

Each tree is assigned a unique code, a number which appears on the biodegradable label and is clearly indicated in the notification email. This code must be entered in the "Your tree" section of the website and there will be photos, planting information and geolocation. The photographic update is made every six months.

Yes, for the adoption of our trees or combos it is a single payment of $ 11.99 dollars with which everything included in the adoption of the tree is covered. Now we also have the possibility of joining our new membership program Become a Partner in which 1.5 or 10 trees will be planted monthly in the name of the member, in addition to accessing different benefits.

The value of the tree is assigned in dollars, but at the time of making the payment, it is charged in the currency of your country. In other words, the platform automatically makes the equivalent conversion and the equivalent amount is debited in your currency..

No. It is not possible since the same day you make the purchase the order is sent to the indigenous community with the data that you have included in the form.

Of course. You can join our El Movimiento volunteer program. You can join him by participating in our meditations every Saturday or in the different lines of action: Sustainability, biodiversity, social justice, international policies or access to information.

The Saving the Amazon movement is a space for dialogue, dissemination of information and active participation to empower people for the same purpose, the fight against the climate crisis. If you want to know more click here

Saving The Amazon is a non-profit organization, so our fixed costs are the payment to our workers in the office and in the field (these being the payments to the indigenous communities that carry out the entire process of planting, marking trees, taking of coordinates and photographic taking of the trees). Beyond the payment for labor and payroll, we do NOT benefit financially as an institution.

There is a commitment from the communities not to cut down the trees after 36 months. And beyond the written commitment, there is a strong incentive for these trees to be of use to the community in a few years, either for their food security, medicinal, or for the ecosystem services offered by the trees. Furthermore, we work with indigenous communities that have a worldview deeply rooted in the care of their territories and the preservation of the Amazon, so that for them the felling of these trees is not a choice, since their priority is the care of the Mother Earth.

Our vision is to be the most important NGO in the fight against the Climate Crisis through concrete actions such as planting trees and supporting indigenous communities in the Amazon. LET'S UNITE THE WHOLE WORLD FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE AMAZON IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE CLIMATE CRISIS!

We have two administrative and operational offices, one in Mitú and the other in Bogotá. In addition, we are starting our international expansion with a person working from Madrid, Spain and we hope to have our international office very soon.

Yes. Our crops are certified by the autonomous corporation of Vaupés, the CDA and KPMG.

Saving The Amazon is a non-profit organization, so although there are administrative positions and heads of management, no one owns the foundation.

This depends on what the terrain is, where and who it is. For Saving The Amazon it is supremely important that its plantings are made in the collective territories of the communities with the greatest multidimensional poverty in the country, so we do not work in private territories. Even so, we are always open to new partnership opportunities so you can send us an email and we can study what can be done.

Any type of project could be articulated if it is focused on the restoration of the Tropical Humid Forest and / or the well-being of the communities that inhabit it. Always with the purpose of contributing to a better world and a better future.

We are part of AsoCarbono and we are recognized as the Social Responsibility project of the Colombian company Servinformación.

Our resources are maintained through individual donations from people who want to adopt trees or companies who want to adopt our project with a view to their sustainability and socio-environmental responsibility objectives.

At the moment we accept credit cards as a means of payment.

Of course, if you download our App in the AppStore or GooglePlay you will be able to calculate your Carbon Footprint and know how many trees you have to plant to compensate it.

Being part of Saving The Amazon is very simple. Only through the adoption of a tree are you already part of this network of change agents who believe in a better world and a better future. You can also join as a partner, volunteer or follow us on our social networks and be an active part of our community by replicating our message among acquaintances and friends

We firmly believe that today's companies must include socio-environmental responsibility within their value propositions, since it is clear that business sectors have a strong impact on the generation of Carbon, and we must all unite in favor of the agenda 2030 and avoid a climate crisis through different actions. Our business programs have different approaches and vary depending on the companies. We have designed programs for SMEs or for much larger companies. We have different commercial advisers who communicate directly with the entrepreneurs to generate the personalized business plan and the measure of each company

It is our membership program where the registered person has the possibility of making monthly tree plantings, it can be 1, 5 or 10 trees. The programs are called Amazon Seed, Amazon Tree, and Amazon Forest. Each membership has its own benefits.

Bosques de Paz is an ally program of Saving The Amazon that was born in 2016 on the sidelines of the peace processes carried out in Colombia between the country and the former armed group FARC. Together with the indigenous communities of Vaupés, a proposal was made to President Juan Manuel Santos to plant a tree in the name of each of the victims of the armed conflict in the country, in order to create a living monument of memory and reconciliation. It was inaugurated in Mitú and several plantings have already been carried out in the department of Chocó, specifically in Bojayá and La Encharcazón, two places strongly affected by the violence that has been experienced in Colombia for more than 50 years.
