Yes , just as you read! Banco de Bogotá and Saving The Amazon have come together to create the first green card in Colombia. Together with the clients of Banco de Bogotá we will plant trees of native species in the Amazon.

This card was born with the objective of linking the clients of Banco de Bogotá in the protection of the most important ecological sanctuary in the world, the Amazon jungle.

But why? The Amazon covers 6% of the planet's surface and occupies 40% of the territory of Latin America and the Caribbean, its rivers discharge approximately 20% of the world's fresh water, and its unique cultural diversity, represented in the more than 385 indigenous peoples that inhabit it are a clear indicator that this territory must be protected.

The saddest thing is that despite being an ecological sanctuary and source of life for the entire planet, the Amazon jungle lives in constant risk. Deforestation, fires, alteration of the ecosystem, are just some of the threats due to which this habitat is slowly disappearing.

In 2020 alone, we lost 2.3 million hectares of forest, an area greater than the total extension of a country like El Salvador.

That is why Banco de Bogotá has also decided to contribute its bit to protect the most important tropical forest on the planet and the ancestral communities that inhabit it.

It is a debit card with which you can contribute to the protection of the Amazon and the indigenous communities that inhabit it by donating 1% of the value of the purchases you make with your Amazon Debit Card*. Also, Banco de Bogotá will donate too! Well , for every 2 trees planted by customers of the Amazon Debit Card, the bank will donate one.
