Do you know what Law 2173 of 2021 is?

On December 30, 2021, Law 2173 was issued by the Congress of the Republic. Said law seeks to encourage the ecological restoration of the territory through the planting of native trees in established areas. The spaces determined for planting or specialized areas are called "Life Areas" and it is the entities such as: planning secretariat, mayors' offices, environmental authorities, etc., who will be in charge of determining and delimiting said areas.

“By means of which ecological restoration is promoted through the planting of trees and the creation of forests in the national territory, stimulating environmental awareness to the citizen, environmental civil responsibility to companies and environmental commitment to territorial entities; living areas are created and other provisions are established”

Large and medium-sized companies already established have the obligation to plant two trees for each employee as part of the implementation of the program. Those organizations that comply with the law must receive the “Siembra Vida Empresarial” certificate from the Environment and Planning Secretariats in charge of the “Life Area”.

As a small company or natural person you can also be part of this initiative of the congress on a voluntary basis. In the same way, you can receive a certificate that is valid for one year and with which you will have access to some benefits such as:

Discounts on educational enrollment, certificates of tradition and freedom of real estate, apostille procedures and legalization of documents, for more information you can consult Article 5 of Law 2173 .
